Fun list. Of those I've only read the Fannie Flagg Fried Green Tomatoes, and two of the M.F.K. Fisher books.

I cannot recommend too highly Love and Hunger by Charlotte Wood, subtitle Thoughts on the Gift of Food. I think, being Australian, it would have flown under HuffPo's radar, but it is just wonderful.

A book I read which changed my thoughts on food and cooking when I was a young adult, The Unprejudiced Palate, would be a good one for this list. Interesting read, too.
