Thought I'd kick off this thread for the last month of the year.
I'm currently reading The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri, Inferno by Dan Brown, The Son by Philip Meyer, and Christmas at the Mysterious Bookshop by Otto Penzler.

Looks like a good lineup! I am currently in the middle of two Quebec-based books: Miss Montreal, by Howard Shrier; and October 1970, by Louis Hamelin (translated by Wayne Grady).

I'm about halfway through House of Stone by Anthony Shadid and I've just started The Ladies' Paradise and Un Lun Dun. I'm listening to The Mysterious Howling.
4christina_reads
I just finished The Perfect Match by Kristan Higgins and am now about to start Un Lun Dun for the group read.

I'm reading Wedding Cake Killer and RedBird Christmas.
By the way those of you with Nooks, B&N has some pretty good deals for Cyber Monday. I saw and bought several James M. Cain, Stuart Kaminsky, a ton of Mary Roberts Rinehart Dorothy Sayers, Ruth Rendelland others that I don't usually see too often at a reduced price.
Amazon is probably following suit for those with Kindles.
Ok, I should probably work now.....

I am still working on The Book of Air and Shadows by Michael Gruber on my lunch breaks.
Also reading Bombshell by Catherine Coulter at home - about to walk away from it, not enjoying it very much.

I just picked up a James Cain, a Dorthy Sayers and three Stuart Kaminskys for my Kindle. It's all Lisa's fault!!! ;)
Currently I am reading The Secret Life of Bees and The Book of Lies, each a coming-of-age story, but very different from one another.

I've got a Sherlock Holmes December ahead of me and have just started reading A Study in Scarlet. Really looking forward to this.

Lol Judy we won't even discuss how many books I bought, it's madness I tell you, holiday madness. I'm still cybershopping, I can't stop.
I've moved from books to toys and kitchen items.

It took three months, but I finally finished In Europe: Travels Through the Twentieth Century by Geert Mak. It was a five star read, a huge, chewy book that required plenty of pauses for digestion. I'm feeling a little lost with only tiny books underway -- I'll have to find another monster to read.
I'm currently reading Roseanna by Maj Sjowall, an early Scandinavian crime novel taking place in 1965. And I have the newest Ian Rankin, Saints of the Shadow Bible ready to go.

I'm reading and loving both The Annotated Emma and The Luminaries, this year's Booker Prize winner.
12dudes22
I finished Wishin' and Hopin' by Wally Lamb and have started A Christmas Journey by Anne Perry.
13BookLizard
I'm currently reading Possession: A Novel of the Fallen Angels by J.R. Ward. I have 4 books to go to finish my challenge for the year. I'm planning on reading Horde by Ann Aguirre, Sin Undone by Larissa Ione, and Codex Born by Jim C. Hines which is the sequel to Libriomancer. If you like urban fantasy, science fiction, and books, you might want to take a look at Libriomancer. It was a fun and funny read.
14dudes22
I have finished A Christmas Journey by Anne Perry and am moving along to one of the award books I had I Was Told There'd Be Cake which I think I might have to "Pearl Rule". I'm not sure that I appreciate reading humor. I might read a little more tonight before I decide.
16christina_reads
I'm diving back into Life of Johnson, and I'm also planning to start Asleep in the Sun by Adolfo Bioy Casares.
17BookLizard
I had to Pearl Rule A Vampire Christmas Carol by Sarah Gray. (Not to be confused with A Vampire's Christmas Carol by Cynthia Eden which I enjoyed.) It's 300 pages long whereas Dickens' original is only 100 pages. The narrator was too annoying.

I'm reading Saints of the Shadow Bible by Ian Rankin, which just happens to fit this month's RandomCAT. I'm also finishing up The End of the World as We Know It by Robert Goolrick, which is a memoir of sorts and is not cheerful reading.
20DeltaQueen50
I am reading The Broken Shore by Peter Temple and Australian Crime fiction, and Un Lun Dun by China Mieville.
23christina_reads
I'm starting Whom the Gods Love by Kate Ross, and I'm still plugging away at Boswell…these are my final two books of the challenge!
24dudes22
I'm reading The Body in the Kelp by Katherine Page Hall although I'm already through almost 60 pages in and no body yet...
25mamzel
I read The Sound and the Furry and The Iggy Chronicles which are part of the Chet and Bernie mystery series, Chet being the narrator and canine partner of Bernie's. I am now reading The Seven Wonders, a prequel to the Gordianus, the Finder mystery series which takes place in ancient Rome.
26cbl_tn
I'm reading Jack Maggs and I'm still working my way through The Ladies' Paradise. A Christmas Carol is my current audiobook.
27majkia
I just finished Blackcollar a really fast-paced space opera. Lots of fun.
Now beginning London Falling which I'm excited about. Hope it lives up to expectations.

I am reading an excellent mystery with Good People by Ewart Hutton and I have also just started The Secret River by Kate Grenville, a book that has been on my shelves for far too long.
29RidgewayGirl
I have just a few chapters left of both Saints of the Shadow Bible by Ian Rankin and Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm by Philip Pullman. I'd like to read Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin next, but I will wait until the new year to begin -- it doesn't look like ideal holiday reading. So i'll be rooting around for something not planned for next year.
30dudes22
>28 DeltaQueen50: - I was going to read The Secret River this month, but it doesn't look like I'll be having time for it. So I moved it to one of the CATS next year. Will look for your comments.

I think I'm going to begin Manhattans and Murder which is a "Jessica Fletcher" Christmas story tonight. I've been debating which of the books I have out to read this month to begin next, and that one is the one I think I've decided to start. I'm also reading on a collection of short stories called Murder for Christmas that is not really holding my attention. I've read several, but I've only liked one of the stories so far. I'm not sure mysteries work as well in short story format. Plot seems to be missing from a lot of them!
32RidgewayGirl
I've begun both a book of short stories by Alice Munro called Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Marriage and Saints at the River by Ron Rash.
33lsh63
I've started Judas Child, it's set around Christmas time, but it will hardly have visions of surgar plums dancing in my head! So far so good.
34psutto
I'm reading purefinder it seems to be taking me a while although it's only 200 odd pages long
35mamzel
I'm listening to Neverwhere in my car and reading (and loving!) The Snow Child which may be my last book for this year's challenge.
36christina_reads
I'm now past the halfway point in Life of Johnson! If I continue to read 60 pages per day, I will finish on December 31. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
37rabbitprincess
Finished Dying Light, by Stuart MacBride, this afternoon. Tomorrow I'll start One Day, by David Nicholls.
38cbl_tn
I'm reading A Killer's Christmas in Wales and listening to A Christmas Grace. I'm still working on The Ladies' Paradise - about halfway through and in good shape to finish by the end of the month.
39DeltaQueen50
I am reading my first Toby Litt, Corpsing which is a very absorbing read. I will definitely be reading more of this author. I also am reading Anne's House of Dreams as I continue to work through the Anne of Green Gables series.
40mamzel
I finished this year's challenge with the wonderful book, The Snow Child, which I saw on the sale table of my local bookstore and remembered reading positive comments her on LT.
41lsh63
I finished Judas Child and have moved on to Silent in the Sanctuary, I didn't realize that it takes place around the holidays, so it's a nice fluffy read.
I hope to squeeze in one or two more books after Christmas, we'll see......

I'm so close to the end of Life of Johnson that I will definitely finish it tonight...so I'm treating myself to a re-read of Knaves' Wager by Loretta Chase, a delightful little Regency romance!
43cbl_tn
I'm finishing off the year with Cornish Conundrum. I'm making an early start on January's reading list with Bleak House and the audio of The Namesake.
44rabbitprincess
Started Bleak House as well, and on the bus I've been reading the (somewhat surprisingly) thrilling The Path of the Hero King, by Nigel Tranter.
45BookLizard
Currently watching and reading Bleak House. Also started Defy by Sara B. Larson - hard to put down.
