I was inspired to wrtie this poem yesterday afternoon by the Dr.Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham. I think my poem might be controversial here since LT is mainly filled with Democratic Left-Wing Liberals and I'm the only Republican Right-Wing Conserative who speaks out. IF there are other Republican Right-Wing Conservatives in LT I think they're in hiding.

To Defund Obamacare

President Obama and the House Democrats say

they will not defund Obamacare in a house, with

a mouse or in a nest with a Grouse. They will not

defund Obamacare on Fox News or listening to the

smooth sound of Jazz Blues. The Democrats always

think that they know what is best for us. They do not

want the Republicans and Tea Party around to ruin

their day. The Democrats plan to play the blame game

and say a Government shutdown is the Republican's

and Tea Pary's fault. The Democrats will not sign a

deal to defund Obamacare in a Bank Vault or over a

Gourmet meal seasoned with salt. President Obama

and the Democrats want this drama to unfold and hurt

the people whether they want it or not. They want the

Republicans to cave into their unfair demands and

think its best if they ran Obamacare down our throats.

President Obama and the House Democrats will use

the Republicans and Tea Party as scape goats and

then they will all gloat and brag about how in the end

they got their way. The Democrats are not our friends.

Doctors and Businesses everywhere do not want

Obamacare. They plan to cut back on their Staffs

while the Democrats will all laugh and make fun

of the Republicans and Tea Party. All Obama, Reid

and Pelosi too, ever do is try to scare the public to

get their evil ways. Only the Republicans and Tea

Party can save the day. I hope the Democrats will

get their just desserts in the Fall of two thousand

fourteen and lose the House Majority. The Democrats

are a mean machine and love to play their Dirty Tricks

Book and break all the rules. While they sneer and

give the Republicans and Tea Party nasty looks.

President Obama thinks he's so cool. If the

Government shuts down the Democrats will not wear

a frown. Because Barack Obama wants to wear a

King's Crown so he can do most anything. Barack

Obama loves the Power and is sullen and dour that

he can not run for a third term. He yearns to make

this great Country into a Socialist State. They should

change the name of the Bill to Obamascare not

Obamacare. The arrogant Democrats think the

Republicans are absurd they will win in two thousand

fourteen and regain the White House in two thousand

sixteen. Obama I am and will not, can not defund

Obamacare. Not today or any other day. Obama and

the Democrats want the Republicans and Tea Party

to rot away. Democrats all lie and say we must trust

them Everthing will be okay. We know what is best

for all of you. And we won't rest until we have it our

own way. I do not like Democrats here, there or

anywhere. I do not like them at all. They do not want

to stall Obamacare for one year amd they do not

listen to the people's fears. Out, out Damned

Democrats I say and do not come back another day.

I long to see you Voted out in two thousand fourteen.

I will not miss you one but. Good-bye and Good

riddance to all of the Democratic half-wits. The

Right-Wing Conservatives are here to stay and bring

America back once more. The Left-Wing Liberals are

bad news and bring nothing but trouble and Socialist

views. Obama I am. I must have it my way. Because

I am The Chosen One you can trust what I say.

The Democrats do not like the Republicans and Tea

Party here, there or anywhere. They do not like

them at all. They always call them nasty names and

say say that you're to blame for the mess we're in.

The Democrats never, ever want to see the

Republicans win again.

> LT is mainly filled with Democratic Left-Wing Liberals and I'm the only Republican Right-Wing Conserative

Isn't LT just for people who are enthusiastic about reading and books? If that leads to it being more appealing to one political creed than another, there might be a conclusion to be drawn there...

In re the initial Post. Grow up. There are tens of millions of people with real needs in this country, and they wouldn't find your efforts amusing. Your characterization of LT as predominantly Democratic/left/liberal is superficial at-best. For starters, how in Hell do you KNOW about the political sociology of tens of thousands of strangers? I myself am a retired worker, politically independent (mostly non-voting) on Medicare -- and thus essentially ignored either way under the recent legislation -- and I have a hard enough time just finding a physician where I live, whether I have a pocket full of tin or a pocket full of gin. I am in good health (praise God), but bitterly resent, having paid into Medicare since its creation, that I still have to BUY a Supplement from my minimal persoanal funds, -- or face irreversible financila penalties if I don't co-operate.
Personally, I think that "Obama care" is wildly inadequate for almost everybody I know, working or retired, sick or well, but certainly not for the "reasons" advanced in this little opus. For starters, how about a little clarification of thought? Let's start by dropping slogans like "Obama care" -- as if the issue centered on the current clown in the White House. Then let's step back and understand that whatever happens, the insurance companies are going to move Heaven and Earth to stay in their saddles, and indeed given their huge investment portfolios, why wouldn't they fight to do so? It may well be that unbknownst to you, you have some pension funds invested in some of these companies. So where does that leave you, practically or philosophically?
Then let's realize that when people mechanically sound-off about "health care", the are not really talking about health care: they're talking about how to pay for it. And having conceded that, how about facing the fact that the issue shouldn't even be the so-called "care", but health itself? When I hear somebody seriously discussing that, I'll pay attention. Meanwhile, I believe that the more things have changed, the more they have remained the same.
Despise him though I do, for his smug hypocrisies and painfully narrow vision, I think it's juvenile at best to write, even in jest, that Obama and his Party really want to "hurt the peole". Incidentally, in an earlier line, there is a reference to "drams". Shall assume that this is a typo for "dreams", or did your Muse require a little pumping-up with a few quick shots of brandy?
Addendum, in re Post #2. Chris, thanks for your calm response, which appeared while I was pounding-out my own message.

#1--should not confuse republican with right wing and democrat with left wing. That might fit the bill in some cases but definitely not in all. Generally most politicians (and most of the public--even if they hardly pay attention) are centrists. That's where Obama fits right now and his predecessor the same to a lesser degree. There is such a thing as well as a politician who is none of those things. Mr. Cheney for instance could not care less about ideology except how it works for his personal gain. He took on the right wing banner because it was the most convenient for enriching himself and his friends.

Please restrict your political views to the Groups dedicated to politics, such as Pro and Con. Those people love to argue.

Well since this is a place to post your poems I had assumed this is where I should've posted it. If I had posted it in Pro and Con someone could've said to me why did't I post it in Poetry Fool? Besides I was never aware of the fact that Political related poems couldn't be posted here. If you don't want Political related poems posted here someone needs to make up a sign saying that.

"There are tens of millions of people with real needs in this country, and they wouldn't find your efforts amusing."

No less amusing than this comment. This country? Since when is LT an American bailiwick? Since when are its members divided into 'Republicans' (there are other types of republicans in the world you know) and 'Liberals' ( there are other ... need I repeat myself).
I'm not really a European democratic socialist - I just look intelligent.

if it were a poem, this would seem like a perfectly good place to put it; political discourse seems applicable in most venues.

not sure it was "inspired" but who can say if not the author

In re #7: lighten up, friend. This has nothing to do with LT as "an American bailiwick". The Affordable Care Act is a purely Anerican phenomenon, and the writer of the satrical poem, no matter how stupid I find it to be, can hardly be expected to comment of health policy in Cameroun, or Norway, or the Seychelles. Nor can I be faulted for given an American-focussed answer to a statement on an American issue. For the record, were I provoked, I COULD discuss the National Health of Canada, from close observations and experience, but there is no reason to do so just to demonstrate some specious internationalism on this site

This group is about poetry. I do not think this thread is - I suspect the original post is a Trojan horse.

#10--To be honest being a member in both poetry fool and pro and con I just looked at the title and thought this was a pro and con thread. It's not a big deal to me though one way or the other. beatles 1964 is more than welcome to bring it on over to pro and con.

Thanks a Lot Iriley. I appreciate it. I didn't think it would've been allowed to post a poem in
Pro and Con. I'll have to post it over there once I get back from being Furloughed. Personally a poem is a poem no matter what the subject matter is related to.
So what's the Big Deal about posting something Politically related in an LT Group for poems?? And I thought it showed originality, was witty, cute, and one of my best poems that I've written in a while.

#3 Thanks HarryMacDonald !

I'm only a passive observer of US politics (America is a bigger thing than I think you mean, beatles), but as a scientist I was intrigued by your claim that Republicans are poorly represented on LT. That would immediately set me to wondering why? At 1,734,716 members, LT is a fair old sample size.

I doubt that anyone at Pro and Con a group that discusses films at length would object to political poetry as off topic.

Your poem started out cute - but got waaa-aayy too long, I stopped reading. I don't agree with you & maybe this isn't the place for political ramblings, but
after this afternoon's drama, which will probably be hashed over for who knows how long - everything is dragged on for too long - anyway, I thought it was kind of cute. Disagreeable but - "cute"!

There once was a poet called 'Beat'
Who had to keep out of the heat
His political views
Were not judged to be news
So, to cool it, he beat a retreat!

#10 why do you think this poem is a Trojan Horse?? Everyone here knows it's me Beatles1964 and not someone who has another LT account pretending to be someone entirely different. I put my name on it so I know it's an original Beatles1964 poem. And I can prove if I have to since I have the oriiginal hand written copy of the poem with later added on additional changes. I can Promise everyone here that my poem To Defund Obamacare isn't some kind of a Computer Virus.
