Began reading The Hamlet today, getting introduced the members of the Snopes clan and the decayed post-Reconstructionist landscape of Frenchman's Bend.

Oh, you're in for a treat. Though I haven't read the trilogy since college, I've read The Hamlet a couple of times.

Ah, Eula Varner, like some Southern fried cross between Salammbo and Bartelby I was amazed by Faulkner's atmospheric combination of eroticism, comedy, and dread.
