in http://www.librarything.com/topic/123748 a possible LT meetup in Manchester (the real one... in England...) has been discussed, but with a notable lack of organisation so far!
_Zoe_ is in the area this week, and Sunday 28 July looks to be the most feasible date.
_Zoe_ expressed an interest in bookshops - I do not know which are open on Sunday - but another possibility might be the old John Rylands Library (http://www.library.manchester.ac.uk/rylands/) which has exhibitions, a cafe and is not far from the big Waterstones
Any thoughts/interest?

A library with exhibitions and a nearby big bookstore sounds perfect to me. What time would be good?
3TimSharrock
For me, any time from 12 noon would be fine, though I could make it earlier if it fit better with others
Constraints include the Library opening hours (12noon to 5pm, last entry 4:30, cafe 11am to 4:30) and Waterstones opening times (10:30am to 5pm, the cafe hours are not listed at http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/navigate.do?pPageID=200002 )

Bah. I'd forgotten about this and now seem to be double booked.
Have fun!
Worth also going to the Central Library in ST Peter's square if its open. Not that amazing book collection, but pretty. Not sure who the new refurb has changed it.

ScarletBea cannot make it either (as she said for this date in the other thread), so attendance is looking sparse... (my wife commends the library, but will not join us, due to limited walking capacity)
lunch at the library cafe would be one possibility: http://www.library.manchester.ac.uk/rylands/visitus/caferylands/ but there are many others, including on curry mile and chinatown

Oh well, a small meetup is still much better than none at all. Would your wife be interested in joining us for lunch, even if not for walking activities? The library cafe sounds good to me, and has the huge advantage of being in the right area. I'm staying near Curry Mile and haven't actually been to the city proper at all yet, because it's so far out of the way.

And a day later all my plans have changed again - the weather forecast has put us off, so I can come after all.
Rylands cafe at 12:00 for lunch?

Sounds great (no Alison, gardening has priority!)
12TimSharrock
now what should I put in my hat-band as a token, a dead salmon or a chocolate bar?
13_Zoe_
>12 TimSharrock: Better include both just to be on the safe side.

A thorough exploration of the wonderful John Rylands library went well. I was most impressed by the juxtaposition of their ancient bible fragment with the 2004 Nobel prize winning labbook from Kosta at the University, but there were many other highlights. Book buying also happened.
Slightly blurry, TimSharrock and _Zoe_ in the library. gallery picture because I can't manage to embed the image properly?
