This is part two of the jukebox as explained at the end of part one.

This section is made up of songs added to the Jukebox but after that section of the jukebox had already played, so this is a kind of fill-in exercise.

Okay, here we go. 1952 - 1960:

3/4 Time - Ray Charles - A pretty simple country tune. Nothing special, except that it's Ray and someone else, Waylon, maybe. Country

59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)" - Simon and Garfunkel - One of their light as air songs which everyone was singing back in the mid- sixties when life was groovy and the Watergate was a geographical feature of Washington D. C. with a restaurant.

Across the Great Divide - The Band - This is a live take. I saw the band touring with the purpose of making this album. It was 1969. Great song, as all of their music is. Rock

Ain't It the Truth - Count Basie - Nice jazz piece from the early forties. Jazz

Ain't Your Memory Got No Pride At All - Ray Charles - More country from the genius. He sure sang a lot of country songs, didn't he? Country

Alabama - John Coltrane - From the sixties. This may have something to do with the civil rights movement. Jazz

All I Do Is Dream of You - Serge Chaloff Quintet - Mid-fifties jazz. Jazz

All I Ever Need Is You - Ray Charles - More country, if you can believe that. Country

All Tomorrow's Parties - Velvet Underground - From their first album. I really liked this group. I think they were one of the best to come out of the sixties. This features Nico, whoever she is/was. Rock

All American Boy - Bobby Bare/Bill Parsons - An old one from about 58 or 59. A biography of Elvis. Rock

There's ten. This is a bit trickier than just listing them from one location. There's a level of mix and match that just doesn't work well for the beginning. I hope it get easier now that we're through all the numbers and special characters. Any way, more later.

How about "Ain't No sunshine when She's Gone"?

Mai 21, 2013, 6:22 pm

Don't have that one.

This is more time-consuming and more complicated than just running down a list and finding the right YouTube so it will probably be a sketchier exercise. If I list something here that I listed before, please bear with me.

1961 - 1970:

Allegro and Minuet in G for Two Flutes - Ludwig Van Beethoven - How the YouTube relates to this piece is utterly and completely beyond me, but they have the same name and they are both LVB, so here's something. Good luck. Classical

Alley Oop - Hollywood Argyles - This song is living proff that humans and dinosaurs roamed the planet together and that humans rode on their backs. Living proof, I tell you. Rock

Almost Persuaded - David Houston - Great classic country song. A barroom, a drink, a girl, how could this go wrong? Country

Along Came Jones - Coasters - The ballad of Salty Sam and Sweet Sue, oh and don't forget Jones. Rock

Along Comes Mary - The Association - Is this song about Mary Jane? This is one of my favorite groups of the sixties and I may have one other song than this. Rock

Amor - Ben E. King - This is after he left the Drifters. A great song with a latin beat. Rock

And I Love Her - Beatles - A great original from the pen of Paul McCartney. The cha-cha was one of my favorite dances. I wasn't bad at it either. Rock

And So It Goes - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band w/ John Denver - Country music for the 70's hipster. Clountry

Angel Baby - Rosie and the Originals - One of those songs from high school. Loved to dance to this one, too. Poor Rosie, what an irritating voice, but there you have it. Rock

Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground - Willie Nelson - Country. Sounds like the eighties or so. Country

There are ten more. More next time.

What a great list...already! And we're just in the A's.

1971 - 1980:

Anniversary Waltz - Bing Crosby - One from the master, a real perfectionist I'm told. Ballad

The Annointing - Richard Souther - This is from the album of Hildegard Von Bingen I have by him. No YouTube. Medieval

Anybody With the Blues - Ray Charles - Sort of modern country infused with a little blues. Country

Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere - Who - Good early rock tune. Rock

At the Hop - Danny & The Juniors - Good early rock from the late fifties. Good beat. Lots of energy. Good dance music. Rock

Aumtumn Leaves - Barney Kessel - Jazz guitar take on an old standard. Very interesting. I love this kind of guitar music. Jazz

Baby's In Black - Beatles - One of their early standards. Great song. Great group. Nice music. Rock

Bacon Fat - Andre Williams and His Boys - Great early fifties R&B. Sounds a lot like several other songs from this period. The music in the background i9s absolutely luscious. R&B

Bad Moon Rising - Creedence Clearwater Revival - One of their standards. Rock

Bad Bad Women - Shufflers - Another old R&B tune. The YouTube is a Zydeco version of this song. Same song, distinctly different music. Too bad. My kind of music. R&B

Well, there are ten more. Later.

At the Hop trivia: The song was originally "Do the Bop." Dick Clark suggested to Danny & the Juniors that they change it because otherwise the song would become dated too quickly.

I did not know that. Glad they kept At The Hop.

1981 - 1990:

Bags' Groove - Duke Pearson - The YouTube is the Modern Jazz Quartet w/ Sonny Rollins on tenor sax. Smooth jazz piece with some good vibe work. I have this as a solo by Kenny Clarke as well. Jazz

Ballad of A Crystal Man - Donovan - One of my favorites of his. A nice ballad. Typical for early Donovan. Folk

Ballad of Davy Crockett - Fess Parker - I can't help but believe this is on the main list, but I don't see it where it should be so I'm posting it. Folk

Ballad of Easy Rider - Richard Thompson - From the movie Easy Rider. Nice song. easy. Rock

Ballad of Geraldine - Donovan - Another easy, folk ballad from Donovan. Another one I like a lot. I liked his music very much. Folk

Ballad of Jed Clampett - Flatt & Scruggs - One of the most recognizable theme songs from the sixties. Country

Ballad of Thunder Road - Robert Mitchum - Yup. The actor sang this song for one of his movies. I like this. Has a good growly sound to it. Rock

Ballad of Paladin - Johnny Western - One of my favorite Teevee themes. Have gun will travel reads the card of a man. A knight without armour in a savage land ... Theme

Basin Street Blues - Louis Armstrong and His Orchestra - Great, early jazz tune from 1928. Jazz

Battle of the Five and Dime - Cafe Noir - Once again, no YouTube for this great jazz group. I hope you've listened to the few I've found on YouTube. I really like this group a lot. Jazz

I could swear I posted several of those "ballads" the first time around, but if not, well here they are.

Anyway, that's ten. We'll get ten more next time, I'm pretty sure.

*sigh* A soldier of fortune is the man called...Paladin. *deep sigh*

Some nice stills to look at while I was listening, too.

1991 - 2000:

Bayou Jubilee - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - From the band that cpouldplay it all, Cajun music. Cajun

Be-Bop-A-Lula - Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps - This, I believe, is the first song I ever heard that could be considered Rock n Roll. The guy spinning records at the beach at Gab Gab on Guam played this and the flip side, Woman Love a lot.

Been on the Cholly So Long - Don Mooney - From the collection known as the Black Texicans. Not on YouTube. Acapella blues.

Bewildered - Notting Hillbillies - More great blues/jazz from this group. Blues

Big Butter and Egg Man From the West - Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five - New Orleans style hot jazz from the twenties. Jazz

A Big Hunk O' Love - Elvis Presley - Not one of my favorites but it's got much of the Elvis I love and cherish. Rock

Big Man - Four Preps - Pop in the era of early rock. Great song, great stuff. Pop

Bikini - Dexter Gordon Quartet - Modern Jazz, which has taken me a while to appreciate, but this is pretty good. I think it was named for the atoll, not the swimsuit. Jazz

Billy's Heartache - Billy Stewart and the Marquees - R&B from the mid-fifties. Nothing special, but it does presage the direction R&B was taking. Rock

Birth of the Blues - Louis Prima & Keeley Smith - This song was recorded by a lot of different people. This is my favorite version. Pop

Okay, ten more. I can't help but feel some of these are repeats, but based on what I see in the old thread and my list of what I have I guess I haven't. Anyway, ten more next time. Enjoy.

Dear gene, I am rather a Fan of "Robert Mitchum". Your "Ballad of Thunder Road - Robert Mitchum - Yup." Showed me another side of him. I did rather like his voice in that song. I wonder what he might have been capable of with training? Hey, he was a pretty 'laid back dude". Thanks.

2001 - 2010:

Bitch - Rolling Stones - From the early seventies. This is from Sticky Fingers, the last of their great albums, IMHO. Rock

Black Lion Blues - Earl Hines - Upbeat piano jazz. Good stuff. Great work. Jazz

Blackbird - Beatles - One of Paul's contributions to the overall catalog of the Beatles. Rock

Blue 7 - Sonny Rollins - More modern jazz. Jazz

Bluegrass Special - Bill Monroe and his Blue Grass Boys - No YouTube. Typical bluegrass tune. Country

Blue In Green - Bill Evans Trio - More smooth, slow piano jazz. Real mood music in the Misty mold. Jazz

Blue Serge - Duke Ellington and his Orchestra - Nice blues early forty with some good muted trumpet work. Jazz

Blue Suede Shoes - Carl Perkins - Another of those very early rock n roll songs. You can tell they were reaching for something not quite defined. This is mostly rockabilly. My favorite style of early rock. Rock

Blueberry Hill - Fats Domino - Another very early rock song, although even this was a cover of a version that came out as a big band hit in the thirties or forties. Rock

Blues Berry Hill - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Not on YouTube. Not the same as the Fats Domino song, either. It's a nice bluegrass instrumental. Bluegrass

Well that's ten more, even if three of them are not available on YouTube. More next time.

What with tomorrow being Sunday I won't list any. Then Monday is Memorial Day, a day when here in America we get drunk as loons, fire up the grill, head out on the water, work as hard as possible to kill ourselves, and, oh yeah, maybe think of our war dead. So I'm taking Memorial Day off. We'll pick it up after then. Enjoy

Sorry for the delay in getting this batch done. I just got back from a three day trip to Pamlico County for my fiftieth high school class reunion. Many of those people I had not seen since we graduated. It was a lot of fun. Oh, yeah, we stayed at the beach.

Anyway, let's get back to it.

2011 - 2020:

Blues Stay Away from Me - Notting Hillbillies - The best version of this old blues standard I've heard. Great song, great band. Blues

Body and Soul - Benny Goodman Trio - Good early Goodman jazz. Jazz

Boll Weevil - Phineas Flatfoot Rockmore - My version is from the Black Texicans album. The YouTube is by Huddie Ledbetter. They are pretty representative of each other, so, why not. Blues

The Boogie Bumper - Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - This may already be on the list since it begins with THE and different systems sort these things differently. If it's not on the list, then it is now and if you like big band jazz you should give it a listen. Jazz

Boplicity - Miles Davis - An intro into be-bop style jazz. Not my favorite, but it came with one of my best of jazz sets, so here it is. Jazz

Boris the Spieder - The Who - Not my favorite of theirs, but it was pretty popular at the time in the mid-sixties. Rock

A Born Loser - Ray Charles - No YouTube. A pretty good sort of upbeat modern country tune. Country

Born To Be Blue - Steve Miller - From his epoonymous foray into jazz. Great album, but his fans wanted more from the gangster of love so it didn't go anywhere. Jazz

Born to Love Me - Ray Charles - More country from the black, blind man. Great stuff once again. Country

Bounkam Solo - Unattributed Artist - This is world music. A solo played on a native instrument from the Upper Volta region of Africa. World Music

Okay. that's another ten. More next time.

2021 - 2030:

The Brakeman's Blues - Jimmie Rodgers - This may be a duplicate. Different systems seem to have different sorts for articles and some pronouns, not to mention special characters. WBB

Branded Man - Merle Haggard - Standard sort of 70's - 80's country tune. Country

Branded Wherever I Go - Ricky Skaggs - I don't know who this group is on the YouTube, but it's apparently the only version of this they have so here it is. Good, fast Bluegrass tune. Bluegrass

Breakfast Feud - Benny Goodman - Upbeat forties jazz tune. Jazz

Breathless - Jerry Lee Lewis - Another one from the early days of Rock n Roll. Rock

The Bride Elect March - John Phillip Sousa - More martial music from the march king. Martial

The Bridge Washed Out - Warner Mack - Pretty standard country tune. Country

Bring the Money In - Wild Bill Davis Trio - Interesting R&B or maybe jazz song with an organ accompaniment. Jazz

Brook's Boogie - Hadda Brooks - The YouTube is a different song. They don't have this one, but it's a boogie woogie also and I wanted you to hear somethiing from this boogie woogie madame. Jazz

Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones - From Sticky Fingers. Excellent rock n roll. Rock

Well ten more. Slowly we're knocking this stuff out. More next time.

Wonderful continuing information. Be sure and see the first installment!
