Found this fascinating article by Alexis Lykiard on Pierre Mac Orlan, written on the publication of his translation of Mac Orlan's Masochism in America

At least one of his Sadie Blackeyes titles has also been translated.

I'd been vaguely aware of Mac Orlan as the author of thrillers that were the basis of many a classic French crime movie, but had no idea that he also wrote flagellation erotica. Nor was I aware that the genre had been so huge in pre-war France - I thought it was more a British fetish! More background here:

Much of general interest in this piece, but I was particularly taken by Mac Orlan's personal erotic scrap-book, itself a work of art.
