I read this a few weeks ago - I like to let things gel. but I find that even thinking back on the book gives me a claustrophobic feeling. It seems like everything (in my imagination as I read) is dark and overpowering. I didn't find this to be a comfortable book at all.

I agree-but it was fascinating! and I did read more about Jean Rhys. I read Smile Please an unfinished autobiography and Jean Rhys: Letters 1931-66.

I noticed she has another book listed in 1001 books to read before you die but I disremember the name of it.
I may try it later, but have quite a few in my TBR pile at the moment.
