NYRB has now launched a contemporary literature series, available, at least in the first instance, as ebooks only. The first title is The Water Theatre by Lindsay Clarke.

Are there any group members planning to collect this series? And do you have any thoughts on the titles listed for publication in 2012?

Also, does anyone have experience of trying to download the first book outside the US? It may be due to copyright restrictions, but with paper books it is generally possible to get around this by ordering direct from a US distributor.

Well, this may force me to get an e-reader of some sort, a move I've been steadfastly resisting.

Thanks for mentioning this, Paul. The Water Theatre and the other NYRB Lit e-books sound very interesting, so I probably will get most or all of them.

Just to demonstrate my complete ignorance, can you read these on any e-reader?

Hmmm ... I read Clarke's book The Chymical Wedding when it came out a number of years ago. I was not impressed. After reading the description of this one, it doesn't seem like my sort of book either and not up to NYRB's standards.

As far I can see, they just give a list of links to ebook sellers that carry the book, so you can buy the format that suits your device.
