1/3 of my books are ULTBs. Should I laugh or cry?

So I finally added all my sheet music and did some more tidying in the combining department before joining this group. Right now it looks like 534 of my 1,623 books are ULTBs (plus 6 more works where I have both copies, but I didn't tag these). I know some users have higher total counts than that, but I've seen very few libraries (snooping around this and similar groups' comments) with a higher proportion of singletons (kudos to rixsal, vintage_books, and Ottox). I think my "median/mean book obscurity" stats (4/22) are also oddly low for my library's size.

I suppose this all gives me certain bragging rights in this group, but it also makes me a little depressed. I mean, I thought that after adding my library to this site, I would be able to go to my profile page, look under "Members with your books" and find several other weirdos out there that shared my zeal for Spanish-language books about the Spanish language. Currently, there's kind of maybe one guy. Now I wonder if I were to die, would anybody at all even be interested in inheriting my collection, my babies, that I've spent all these years carefully collecting?

I am surprised that people going out of their way to catalog non-books would be surprised at ending with a large quantity of ULTBs.

While the group seems to have adopted a definition including anything that could remotely be included in library collections, I would think most people are on LT for books above all else, and a very large share of them (especially the free users with their 200 slots limit) list according to their current reads and center of interests first, to maximize usefulness of recommendations and social features with the least effort.
So oddball and older items would IMO be somewhat underlisted, on top of being possibly less prevalent in actual collections as well.

I've added a book and thought I was the only one who had cataloged it on LT, but then found out that there were several entries of the same book that needed to be combined with my version.

Maybe that doesn't apply here, but I thought I'd mention it anyway, jic...

Jarandel, I hadn't thought about the case of the 200-limit free users, but you're right. As for the sheet music, I have 123 "books" that fall into that category, and 57 of those are ULTBs (lower than I would have guessed, since I manually entered 3/5 of my sheet music). So if I removed all the sheet music, that would still leave me with 477 ULTBs out of 1500 "real" books, bringing my new percentage down to 31.8%. So looks like all that Spanish-language stuff is still to blame for most of it.

fuzzi, yeah, I probably didn't start combining till about halfway through my time at LT, but now I do it religiously every time I enter a new book. And I've tried to go back and cover a lot of the authors/works I missed originally, but there are still plenty of holes, I'm sure. This morning, I went through the first ~600 books I ever entered and, focusing only on stuff I had tagged as ULTB, looked for combinations to be made. I probably eliminated 5 poser ULTBs this way.

It certainly gives you bragging rights! Enjoy them! Just think of the poor soul who follows you, thinking their 50 Spanish language book make them a weirdo.

Positive way to think about it. Thanks! Funny thing is, I know of a few non-LTers in real life that, if they were to add their books here, not only would we be really high matchers, they would probably make me look like the normal one. I tried to recruit one, but to no avail.

You're not someone who chooses what to read based on the NY Times Bestseller List, and that's admirable for a number of reasons, one large one being that bestsellers are books that appeal to the lowest common denominator.
