here in Spain Jack ketchum is mostly known for The girl next door, but he has a lot more of novels like Cover, Off season (I think this is translated to spanish too), Offspring, Ladies night... are them interesting enough? which are his best novels? is The girl next door so crude, violent (I don't know the exactly word in english) as readers say in Spain?

I read, meaning I finished, Off Season, Ladies' Night, She Wakes and one other I think, but I couldn't get through The Girl Next Door. I can't remember much of any of them, but Off Season is better than She Wakes.

Memories are hazy, but I remember loving Off Season. I haven't read any other Ketchum books, but I liked that one enough to immediately go out and pick up some others.

I can't find him at any of the libraries around me. Don't like to buy before I have had a taste.

Broke my own rule and bought Off Season on amazon. I've heard a lot, so now I can judge for myself....in 4 to 14 days. And of course I've got some other books backed up, so maybe 16 or 17 days.

I've read a few Ketchum books--he's blunt and skilled, and a little bit gruesome!

I wouldn't call his work crude. I think he writes beautifully about real world horrors though my favourite novel of his is Red - it's not as extreme as The Girl Next Door or Off Season but is still very moving and haunting.

The movie they made of Red was pretty good. I think it starred Brian Cox if I remember rightly.

#8-9: I never read the book Red, but the movie surprised me at how more of a drama it was. And yes, Bookmarque, it did have Brian Cox in it. Good movie if you don't like the usual blood and guts of Jack Ketchum.
