Tea And Coffee drinkers from all over the world

Hello, I live in Jamaica where we have the world famous Blue Mountain coffee, My uncle actually has a coffee farm. I'm interested in discussing with people all over the ups and downs of these beverages, health concerns etc. The financial burden for some of the better tasting varieties. Prices here are relatively cheap but I heard like in Japan, its like $20 US for a cup of coffee. It seems incredible to me. If you want to tell me about more expensive places or other unusual stories, well I guess this is the place to do it. Cheers.

Can't speak to coffee, but here in Texas, the typical trendy cafe type place will hit you for US$1.50 to $2.50 for a cup of tea. Considering I estimate it costs about $0.25 to make a cup at home (and brew it exactly the way I like it), I generally pass on the opportunity to buy the $2.00 cuppa.

If I go to a nice cafe, I get a pot of (loose leaf) tea for about $3. If I go to a nice Chinese restaurant, the jasmine tea comes free. I can go through a lot of jasmine tea in a week. :)

If a cafe doesn't do loose leaf tea, I'll skip.

A coffee starts at ~$3 in Sydney (although it does depend on where you are).

I was in Costa Rica earlier this year and toured a coffee plantation. We asked why the coffee tasted so much better there than at home in the states. They said it was because they kept all the good stuff for themselves. ;-)

Reminds me of "Blue Bell" ice cream, here in Central Texas. Their motto is "We eat all we can, and we sell the rest." They mean it, too. Employees can eat all the ice cream they want while working.

>1 ramonseeriram: my husband and I pay $14.39 a week for a coffee called death wish-valhalla. It's so good. It's one of the top 3 coffees that I love! It's expensive since the bag barley gets us through the week. They have 3 different flavors. Their pumpkin spice is amazing! I also like the coffee jamaican me crazy. I know there's alot of people who make this however the only one I like is sold as a coffee bean only in a local grocery store that you have to grind yourself in the store or at home. The last one I honestly don't know the brand name. It's in a purple bag and it's requested that you keep it refrigerated for the best taste. It was the coffee we served at the country club. The only coffee I could drink "black" no sugar or creamer.
