A chap I know is collaborating on a film project with Clive Barker and is seeking some development money. Anyone interested in supporting a young film-maker should have a look at his pitch:

Um, nope, sorry, I'm broke. :) But looks interesting. Best of luck.

I think these Kickstarter folks are serving an invaluable role for people like the young film-maker in the OP. With the right opportunity, a decent amount of support, we can encourage the next generation of film-makers and see better work on-screen than we currently enjoy, thanks to the likes of Michael Bay, JJ Abrams, Zack Snyder, etc.

Finally, there's something to thank Michael Bay for ;)

"...thanks to the likes of Michael Bay, JJ Abrams, Zack Snyder, etc."

Who should be blinded like Oedipus and cast adrift on an ice flow with rabid polar bears...

I'm ambivalent about Zack Snyder and don't really know much about JJ Abrams (except that he has some rabid fans). But Michael Bay... what you describe is too good for the likes of him.

(I mis-read post #3, thinking Michael Bay, JJ Abrams, Zack Snyder were behind Kickstarter.)

JJ Abrams is not as bad as Michael Bay but he is still total crap.

Quick update: the chap soliciting funds for his Clive Barker-produced movie made his pledge total and the last I heard, they had cast the central parts and were conducting makeup tests. So keep an eye out for "The Sickness" by Mark Miller...somewhere down the road.
