when I was in high school, Ancient Chinese is one of my favourite lesson.
In college my major is science, but I learn Ancient Chinese myself for years.

Do you have to learn a lot of new characters to read ancient Chinese? I was always told that it wasn't that hard to learn ancient Chinese if you already know modern Chinese, but I suspect it's more complicated than that.

yeah, but for me, it's not as hard as to learn English words

For me it is much easier to understand some Anglo-Saxon than learn even a few Chinese characters, so I understand.

What Ancient Chinese texts are you reading. I have read English translations of Tao Te Ching and some of the poetry.

《Tao Te Ching》 or 《I Ching》 is hard for me because they are too ancient, too profound!!
In fact, there are many argument even when translate into Modern Chinese
