Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know about a site I came across called Bargain eBook Hunter. They showcase Kindle and Nook books that are free or cost up to $2.99. Right now through July 8, 2011, they're holding a contest to give away a FREE Kindle! Just pop on over to their site http://bargainebookhunter.com/ and click Giveaways for entry instructions.

These folks are hotzippy, a known spammer who just came up and running a couple of months ago. Not sure why Godaddy hasn't ToS'ed their domains yet but I know I wouldn't trust them.

Heck the library already has this site blocked and the domain was just registered a week ago.

edit: Not sure if the poster is aware of any of this but this is just my opinion and what I see when I view my logs.

I've already sent a polite email to the poster "theapparatus" above asking him why he has so defamed our little network of ebook sites, but as of yet have not received a reply. I thought it important to not let this post stand unchallenged, as it is inaccurate to the extreme.

HotZippy! was created by me less than a month ago as a means to deliver both quality ebooks to readers and affordable sponsorship offerings to independent authors (a category in which I have many friends who were, in fact the whole reason I decided to start HotZippy!).

At current time we have a total of three sites (Bargain eReader, Bargain eBook Hunter, The Fantasy eReader) with one more launching within the week.

I wish to make this VERY clear ... we have NEVER nor will we EVER partake in the practice of SPAM. I personally spend nearly two hours (and that number is rising as our sites become more popular) eradicating SPAM comments and form responses each and every morning. It is not a fun endeavor, I assure you, and not one we would ever subject any other webmaster to. I own the ONLY hotzippy email address, so no emails could ever have come from our network that would have constituted itself as SPAM. In fact, the only unsolicited email I have ever sent from that account is to the above poster.

If we do not solicit nor post false comments on any other blog site there is no way we can be known as a spammer, as stated above. Which is why, of course, our domains have not been taken down, again as suggested above.

As for the library blocking one of our sites, well, libraries block for any number of reasons but most likely it was because we featured a bargain erotica book for the Kindle somewhere and a library scanner didn't like a suggestive word. Our sites don't discriminate against book postings by category--our philosophy is, if Amazon sells it, we'll promote it. I think that's fair.

Now, after being greatly upset by the above post, we after all are just myself, my wife and a couple of writer friends trying to do something new and different, I decided to do some searching on the net and found a site closely related to our name (zippyshare) which DOES have quite a shady reputation as both spammer and illegal downloader, but I want to make the readers here at Library Thing aware that those folks have NOTHING to do with us. (I picked HotZippy because I thought it had a cute sounding name like Google or Kobo etc and probably should have looked a little more closely, though I never anticipated something such as this happening to us.)

I hope "theapparatus" realizes that he might have made an error and retracts his previous statement because anybody who follows the advice given is keeping themselves from a great site, run by fun and interesting folks who work very hard--not to mention losing the chance to win a free Kindle, which just stinks.

If anyone has any questions about who we are or fears for some reason that we're some evil conglomerate intent on SPAMMING nations into submission, please contact me directly at services (at) hotzippy (dot) com.

Thank you all for listening (reading),

Brendan Lowes,
HotZippy
