Would anyone like to suggest a good book on appeasement, or on Neville Chamberlain, the British Conservative government of the 1930s, or attitudes to Hitler, Fascism and Japan prior to the war?

I'm sure it's a bit dated now in terms of the state of historical scholarship, but you could try A.J.P. Taylor's classic, revisionist history The Origins of the Second World War. It's been a long time since I read it, but I remember it being readable and provocative.

Brand spanking new try Troublesome Young Men by Lynne Olson. She was just interviewed on I believe it was the NPR Omni-Media show.
