Barnes & Noble has British TV DVDs on sale 50% off from 12/6-12/12/10. I'd like to add to my collection, but was looking for recommendations.

I already have new seasons 1-5, including the Tennant specials. (Bought 5 today, which will make it very difficult to go to book group tonight.)

I have one Pertwee episode ("The Time Warrior") - yes, I am an Elisabeth Sladen fan, and this was her first appearance as Sarah Jane Smith. I have one Davison episode ("Black Orchid").

I mostly have Tom Baker episodes:
* "Robot"
* "Ark in Space" (first episode I ever saw)
* "The Sontaran Experiment"
* "Planet of Evil"
* "Horror of Fang Rock"
* "Destiny of the Daleks"
* "City of Death" (one of my favorite episodes)
* "Logopolis"

Any suggestions for taking advantage of the sale?

if you've never seen it you should definitely pick up Davison's final story, "The Caves Of Androzani"

2> Thanks! My local PBS stations mostly showed Pertwee, T. Baker, and Davison, but I don't think they ever showed much of later Doctors, and I'm pretty sure I never saw this episode.

I checked online and LOVE the reviews and the list price of the one you recommended.

And now, back to season 5....

The Talons of Weng Chiang is a fun, creepy Tom Baker episode.

"Remembrance of the Daleks", a really brilliant Seventh Doctor Dalek story.
It's got explosions, Daleks, continuity (but not too in your face), lots of Daleks, quiet moments and it's all set in 1963.
Also the commentary is quite good, and it's got a 5.1 mix.

Also look at getting "Earthshock", the commentary alone is gold.

ReneeMarie, City of Death is one of my favorites too!

It might be pricy (even with the 50% off), but I highly recommend the Keys to Time special edition. It's got the entire Keys to Time story arc (which is pretty much the entire 16th season or stories 98-103, however you keep track). If you're a special features-type person, this set has lots of great extras including some making-of documentaries and interviews and commentary from Tom Baker and the rest of the cast.

4> I *remember* "Talons of Weng Chiang!" The teeny Chinese ventriloquist's dummy. Leela actually wearing clothes. Under consideration.

5> Checked these out at online stores. Both sound interesting. "Earthshock" especially since it talks of a shocking cliffhanger and I love archaeology (it's one of my favorite things about Jean-Luc Picard, too).

6> I remember K-9 and Romana (both of them?) when I think of the "Keys to Time." But, you're right, I think I'm going to have to keep it in mind for the next time there's a whopping big sale. The same day I got new series 5, I picked up "Desperate Romantics" and series 1 of "Black Books."

Thanks to everyone who's helping me spend my money. Wisely. (Probably going to make my purchase on Friday, so there's still time to comment if you choose.)

And now back to season 5 (I just finished watching the penultimate episode before work this morning)....

Yes, it's got K-9 and Romana (Romana-1, Mary Tamm).

In case you're curious (I would've been), I was fairly frugal and picked up/ordered two Doctor Who DVDs tonight.

I now own two more Davison episodes:
* "The Caves of Androzani"
* "Earthshock"

Here's hoping there'll be another sale soon.

Thanks again.
