The project will grant free access to high-resolution images of the scrolls and also include translations.

What will this do to the conspiracy theories about suppressing forbidden knowledge in the scrolls?

They will just have to come up with new conspiracy theories to associate with the scrolls or possibly now Google, as well. Humm, maybe fodder for the next Dan Brown novel????

The Dead Sea Scrolls are now available on-line.

The Leon Lever Dead Sea Scroll Digital Library
Provides access to infrared photos from the 1950s archive and the latest high-definition spectral images, which enhance the texts' visibility and readability. Fragments can be searched by Site, Language, or Content or use the "free search" option.

It also provides a wealth of background information about their discovery, conservation and historical context.

Forget conspiracy theories. Remember Woody Allen's doubts of the Scrolls' authenticity, based on their occasional references to Oldsmobiles.
