A propos de ma bibliothèque
I think one look suffices to make this clear: I read almost only fantasy and science fiction. Mostly fantasy; in my experience, SF can sometimes ignore characters and even storyline in favor of The Idea. Needless to say, I'm not a fan of that: to me characters are the most important aspect of a book, followed by world building and story.

Although it is not a prerequisite, I like it when my books display an egalitarian society (as in no discrimination, particular between men and women, but also between everything else), I like good female characters (as in competent, yet human, well fleshed-out, and not trumped by the first male to come along, just because he happens to be male, and she isn't.), I like books that pass the Bechdel test (books that have a) more than one female character, b) that talk to each other c) about something other than men), I like minority characters (for want of a better word; in this I include non-white and non-heteronormative characters (and societies)) and I like non-traditional magic systems and societies.
I also like communities, loyalty and camaraderie.
A propos de moi
I'm Dutch, I'm a physicist, and, being inspired by what I've seen on someone else's profile, these are the countries I've ever been to:
