My ratings are entirely personal and do not represent considered judgements about literary merit (so a book that I loved as a nine year-old might get five stars and a great novel from the Canon with which I struggled might only rate two stars).

5* Books I can't live without; will have read most several times. Also books of special personal and sentimental interest and books I consider important within a limited specialized subject range.
