A propos de ma bibliothèque
In this space I share the information about special, significant books, books that relate to my special interests. Books, that I hope will move on to another personal library when I have left life on this earth.

I trust others will take care of novels and cookbooks, which I enjoy as well. That being said, I like to point out that collecting a personal library is not a goal in my life and usually books stay with me for the time being, untill I pass them on to the next owner.
The books I mention here are essential to my life, and thus, almost all of them are rated highly.
A propos de moi
I am educated both as a biologist (University of Groningen) and as an artist (Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam). In the period since circa 1980 I was mainly self-employed as an artist / illustrator, and regularly I did other jobs to acquire additional income. Thus, in the period 1992-93 I was employed at the Utrecht University Museum as a curatorial assistant to the zoological collections.

In that period I encountered the passion of my life: educational models. I started to research the Utrecht collections of glass animal models, made by Blaschka of Dresden. This research resulted in publications and exhibitions.

In the course of time my interest widened to natural history dealers, especially Václav Frič of Prague. Both Blaschka's glass animal models and the natural history dealer Frič offer several angles for innovative research. The pursuits in the field of history of science offers the stimulation and satisfaction that I expected from life when I decided to study biology.
