A propos de ma bibliothèque
Eclectic is such an overused word, but I think it fits, in this case.
I keep a lot of books given to me, whether or not I ever plan to read them.
Also, I read a lot more books than I own, because a) I check them out from the library, of course, and b) who can afford to buy every book they read?
Lately, I've been picking up used copies of books I've enjoyed to pass along to people, so I've got a lot of really random-seeming books, too.
A propos de moi
I'm a "library thing" myself, having been a librarian for 12 years, first in a Cape Cod, Massachusetts public library and now in a large elementary school in Prince George's County, Maryland.
Ironically, I don't have as much time to read as everyone thinks I do.
And I'm a horribly slow reader (I edit while I read, a terrible habit!)...
Favorite authors: Peter Cameron, George Saunders, Tom Drury, Louise Erdrich, Billy Collins.
Literary pet peeves: some chick lit (encouraging brainlessness?) and poorly-edited books.
