A propos de ma bibliothèque
My tastes range from the mild to the extremely eclectic. I will read almost anything as long as it appeals to me in some way, and I have almost never left a book unfinished, even if it lost my interest. At times, I have even slogged through atrocious writing simply so that I could find out what happened to the characters.

I tend to be plot-driven, but not always. I love a book with deep, realistic characters just as much as a book with an argument to prove or story to tell. I read fiction and non-fiction in equal measures, though I must admit that my intake of poetry is sub-par.

Book stores are my kryptonite. I own hundreds of books that I have never gotten around to reading, which should also tell you how many books I own that I have read. I almost never turn down offers of free books.
A propos de moi
My name is Carina, and I'm a 30-something high school teacher living and working in Toronto.

I developed a ravenous love for reading when I was a very small child, working my way through hundreds of books by the time I reached university. My love of the written word drew me to complete an Honours Bachelor of Arts with a Specialist in English, and later to become (among other subjects) a high school English teacher.

Through my university years, I learned a lot about myself and about books, including that I hated being told what to read. I spent 5 years reading next to nothing that I had chosen myself, and my personal intake of literature fell to a life-long low. Since then, however, I have returned to reading, one of my first loves, and intend to stay by its side 'til death do us part.
