Pilot School & Community Center is a historic Appalachian landmark located in South Western Virginia (about an hour from the West Virginia border). Built in 1921, the School first served the region academically and recently as a community center (hosting social functions, music, art , poetry, and tutoring events). Pilot School also offers the WVArts Workshop (Art and Poetry) and the Montgomery Floyd Regional Library “Little Libraries” outreach program involving book sharing and literacy . In 2014 the Virginia Department of Historic Resources began the process of officially designating the old School as a historic landmark for the community and the state.
