A propos de ma bibliothèque
At least for the moment, I'm only adding books from my library that I've read. And if if I've read them and they're still in my library, that means they've survived many a purge, they've been read recently, or they have some additional use as reference materials. As I've entered books here, I've been surprised at how ruthless I've been over the years, selling or trading many books that I'd easily place amongst my favorites. Chalk that up to too many moves and too little space to store everything I've ever read, even if I loved it. My unread books will have to wait at least to make the grade of being read before I list them. I know from experience that by the time I get around to some of them, my enthusiasm will have waned for their topics or their prose.
A propos de moi
I've worked in a number of book-related capacities: bookstore clerk, library staff member (not, I should mention, as a librarian, though my friends keep entering that field), book editor, production editor, and managing editor. I also teach hopeful young graduate students the art of book editing, and I've been known to write fiction as well. Are these the most intelligent endeavors in a postliterate society?
