À mon sujetFanatical urges to create:
photography, paper arts, crochet, sewing, quilting, embroidery, drawing, decorative painting, mandalas, tattoo designs, gardens, altered books, web pages...

Fanatical urges to learn:
Bachelors in History & English Lit
Master in Education
2 years training as Addictions Counselor
????

Fanatical urges to read:
I live near the largest bookstore on the face of the planet (Powell's City of Books, PDX-OR-USA), which sells new & used, and I love to spend a day bargain hunting books at garage sales and thrift shops.

À propos de ma bibliothèqueCataloging: I'm cataloging books I own and any book I remember reading (which is a slow process). Haven't updated since 2010 and I've purged over a thousand books since then and moved to a kindle, which I swore I'd never do... and I LOVE IT.

Dates: "Date read" is for the first time I read the book. Dates prior to 2006 are an approximation from memory, which gets hazier the farther into the past we go. Since LT won't let you put just a year, the pre-2006 months and days may be a complete figment of my imagination...

Book Ratings:
One Measly Little Star
I'd toss it in the trash except for that very special level of Hell reserved for child molesters, people who talk at the theater, and destroyers of books.*
Two Itsy Bitsy Stars
Read if desperate (&/or) give to unsuspecting stranger: I can't believe I actually read this book. Hopefully it was free & I had nothing else to read.
Three Regular Ol' Stars
Read once (&/or) recommend selectively: A decent read or a "have to read staple". It would probably appeal to people interested in the genre or topic.
Four Giant Stars
Read at least twice (&/or) recommend freely: A good read. I'd recommend it to people who like to read whether it's their usual genre/topic.
Five, Count 'Em, Five Humongous Stars!
Read over & over (&/or) a Lifetime keeper: I'm going to tell you about this book whether or not you're a reader. I might even buy the hardback!

Movie Ratings:
One Cold Stale Box Full of Unpopped Kernels
"I can't believe I'm 90 minutes closer to death."

Two Stale Half-Eaten Boxes
"I can't believe I paid $9.50 to watch that."

Three Regular Ol' Boxes
"That was entertaining."

Four Bountiful Hot Boxes
"Really good movie; especially that part where..."

Five Monster Boxes of Butterlicious Hot Popped Corn, Baby!
"Let's go see it again!"
