In February I donated about 350 of my books to the local Lions club. I basically had no where to store them, and for the previous 18 months they had been sitting in cardboard boxes on the granny flat lounge room floor (currently unoccupied!!!). It was sad to let them go, but I didn't have anywhere to put them. I NEED a house with room for a library!!!

If I had to rescue several books from my collection I would grab Who's Who, Sands and McDougall Directories, Maisie (see my review) and Colonial Eve, and of course, my childhood books.

The best books are free!!! I acquired a lot of my books from a librarian at a local school. She had been given a lot of old books which the school didn't want. I got to pick which books I wanted. There were so many I couldn't take, because I simply don't have anywhere to store them. There's only so many boxes you can store in a junk room, and my in-laws house!!! Sadly the books I couldn't take, she burnt - she rang lots of booksellers and asked all the staff, but no-one wanted the books.

I regret not taking all the Sands and McDougall Directories (I took 3, and there were about 20 of them) and all the old German books. I did take several German Bibles and some beautiful German books, but I couldn't take more. Not speaking German I have no idea what some of the books I do have are about!!!
