A propos de ma bibliothèque
I work at the San Diego Public Libary, for the city of San Diego. I sometimes enjoy visiting the County of San Diego Libraries. I also enjoy visiting a website devoted to photographs of libraries around the world (Librophiliac Love Letter) at the following link:

A propos de moi
I must have something to read with me wherever I go, without exception! I like to read nonfiction and fiction. I also love research and reference materials. From 2002 until 2006, I earned a master's degree in Chinese and taught Chinese language, history, literature, and film. Right now, however, I am focusing all of my efforts not so much on foreign languages but on information literacy.

That's because I am an advocate for public libraries, through which we can always find more and more ways to empower ourselves. Patricia Glass Schuman, the 1990 President of the American Library Association, once said that the public library is an "arsenal of democracy." The United States is unique in the world for providing a setting through public libraries, where anyone, regardless of his or her economic or cultural background, can educate himself or herself about current events, politics, humanities, and/or the arts to become a more active citizen. The public library provides a place for the community to build and shelter its history, its identity, and its people.

I am currently employed at the San Diego Public Library while working part-time toward a master's degree in library science at San Jose State University.
