An unholy mix of classic literature and the sort of books you'd expect to be assigned in history class interspersed with a select few more modern fiction titles. My main non-fiction interests are medieval European history, any period in British history, disease history, World War I, astronomy, cartography, anything about dogs, disaster histories (especially weather stuff), and the very occasional funny political book.

Reading is my main hobby and probably the thing I spend the most money on. There are books everywhere in my house because I read in pretty much every spare moment I get. My most favorite books are The Silmarillion (and pretty much anything else by Tolkien), the Aubrey-Maturin series by Patrick O'Brien, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Out of Africa by Isak Dinesen, James Herriott's books, and All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque. I'm also a big fan of Shakespeare's Macbeth, Hamlet, and King Lear. By the way, my user pic is my doggy Megan.
