My name is Jerrell Taylor. I'm a senior at the University of North Texas, majoring in English and Technical Writing as well as having concentration in Creative Writing. I have been a lifelong reading enthusiast; most notable for my love of science fiction, whether in literature or comics/graphic novels. My favorite authors would(not in any particular order of importance) be Ray Bradbury, Terry Brooks, Stephen King, Drew Karpyshyn, Ayn Rand, Douglass Adams, J.K. Rowling, Isaac Asimov, Orson Scott Card, and Kurt Vonnegut. I enjoy character stories. Stories where the author spends excessive amounts of time delving into the characters psyche, unraveling, layer by layer, the personal intricacies of the emotional and mental state of the character. A smooth balance of action combined with a well-controlled narrative only add to the enjoyable pleasure of reading. As far as style goes I have no strict likes and dislikes that will cause me to not finish a particular book, but detailed, gratuitous, jarring images usually help submerge me into the culture and ambiance of the world the author has crafted. The richer the language the more I seem to enjoy the stories, and that is not to say that I have a preference for books with bigger words, but what I mean is that I find myself pulled, like the moon to the earth, to books with great and sometimes profound figurative language.
