A propos de ma bibliothèque
Its eclectic, and I go through phases. The books that are cataloged here are those that I have read (and remember) from the year or two before I joined LT, and then categorized by year since. My actual library of to be reads is rather large, and it gives me motivation to start plowing through these things.

A propos de moi
I have been an avid reader since I was tiny. I distinctly remember discovering Nancy Drew at age 8 and going to our local independent used book seller and sitting in the dusty stacks pouring over which 2 of those bright yellow bound books I could talk my Mom into bring home with us.

I grew up in the southern USA, then moved for 13 years for my career to Manhattan, and now have recently purchased a drafty old beautifully decrepit southern double porch style house in downtown Charleston, SC. It has been a huge but welcomed change, and spending my time recreating the overgrown garden, fixing holes in wavy glass windows and plastering walls has been both the biggest pain in the butt and most fun I've had in a very long time.

My other big hobby is traveling with a sense of adventure. I have been from Bolivia to Russia to Namibia, taken over-night train rides ala the Orient Express and backpacked without a shower for a week with a band of Bedouins. The mystery and romance of the unknown and the traces of history is what draws me to this lifestyle and it reflects in my reading and sense of life in general. I can travel just as much exploring a little swamp town an hour away too, and I soak in the atmosphere of these places I visit for real or just for a while in a good book.
