Classic literature, new authors search out different books from the NY Times and other review sources as I come across them. Like to try books from the Booker Prize, Impac Award including the short list of these awards. I'm reducing the number of books I own and using my local library more mostly to conserve on space. Also love audio books. I have a great many books still not catagloged including a number of presidential biographises. Some of my favorite authors are Jane Austen, J.M. Coetzee, and Toni Morrison. My wish list includes re-reading some of the Russian authors I have enjoyed in the past.

My Rating system for all but reference books:

5 -- Excellent perfect book
4.5 -- Almost perfect
4 -- Thoroughly enjoyable book but unlikely to re-read
3.5 -- Some parts very tantalizing so not quite a mediocre book
3 -- Mediocre book
2 -- Mostly dreadful but a few sparks
1 -- Read 50 to 100 pages and personally disliked so much did not finish reading

Rating for narrators of audio books
Superior, Excellent, Medium, Poor

Rating system for reference books:

5 – Numerous patterns or instructions that I find very helpful
4 – Quite a bit of useful information well worth keeping
3 – Only refer to this work occasionally
2 – Nothing much of use -- give to local book sale ASAP

A propos de moi
Avid and hopefully thoughtful reader. Love knitting (mostly socks lately), some quilting -meaning I buy fabric. I am Boston sports fan --baseball, basketball and football which doesn't help my reading time but does help knitting. I lived with one old dog until the winter of 2012 when most sadly she had to be put down. Have traveled extensively hoping for trip to Egypt in the next year or so. Enjoy a local book group which I have belonged to for 11 years.

I use Library Thing to track most recent books, some old favorites, knitting, quilting, art and other miscellaneous reference books. Once in awhile I go back to the many other books I've read over past years but sure many will be left off as I've forgotten all about them.
