My books represent my wide range of interests. I hesitate using the word "eclectic" but there appears to be no other favorable word - perhaps varied? I tend to lean towards current events/politics and government.and fiction (not the NY Times Bestsellers) but hearty recommendations for friends, NY Review of Books, and other sites. My books are starting to crowd me out but they are part of my life, so I am seriously thinking of moving to allow more space for them.

I am a 49 year old health care executive residing in the western suburbs of Chicago. Books have always been an integral part of life, starting off with the local bookmobile that visited the Gary, Indiana neighborhood where I grew up and continuing with my zeal for them to this day. In addition to reading, I also enjoy the opera (Renata Tebaldi, Montserrat Caballe, Alfreda Hodgson, Victoria de Los Angeles rank as my favorite principals, chamber music, and tennis (don't play it but follow it with a passion.) I have 2 cats Nicky and Alex that are like kids to me. About my job, I am on the executive management team of a national based medical society and have been there for 16 years. My plan is to retire from there in a few years, and re-start my interest in global travel.
