- A propos de ma bibliothèque
- My current library, represented here, contains a wide cross section of books, with a generous theology section of mostly new books with a liberal bias. The novels are of mixed genre, but I especially enjoy thrillers and medieval mystery. There is a large cookery section to complement my love of good food (and wine!).
- A propos de moi
- Oops! This profile needed updating. So here goes. Since February 2011 I have returned to full time ministy in the Diocese of Wakefield. Prior to this, by day (and night) I worked for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service as an Assistant Practitioner on A&E. At that time being, a self-supporitng Priest (Anglican), assisting (as shift work allowed) at Halifax Minster.
Whilst at school my English Teacher and librarian, Ena Jenkins, suggested I keep a diary of all the books I read. In years to come, looking back through this book, she claimed, would not only refresh my memory as to what I had read, but would bring many stories flooding back. I began this exercise probably in 1969. At some stage this little ‘black book’ became wet and smudged and I painstakingly made a new copy. Regrettably this, along with the greater part of my library was lost in 2005 and over forty years of treasured memories threatened to disappear.
Because I owe a debt of gratitude to Ena; for she gave an incalculable gift with her advice, and not wanting to lose these treasured memories, I have attempted to reconstruct my 'Little Book of Treasure', but can obviously only list the books I recall. There are titles which are missing, and a few that I am not sure if I have read: memories of the story may have come from some other source. I have recorded them because, on balance, I believe they have been read.
As the newly constructed list takes shape it bears witness to the fact that my teachers attempt to convey the magic of reading was a success. It is also a testimony to the truth that she gave to me a gift beyond price. - Lieu (géographique)
