- My library is ridiculous. I have many books on Eldridge Cleaver and by John Cheever. I have Ulysses and Lee Child. I have a bunch of random Best American Short Story Collections and a lot of obscure books about South Korea. I have classics and crap. I have two books by Robert Lowell! I have an embarrassing number of self-help books. What the hell am I trying to prove? That I am not mediocre?

- I don't like my job or my destiny. I have been known to speak jealously of them that are free. But I don't for a minute forget that death's honesty won't fall upon me. So I am never lonely.
Recently I was accused of liking the process of mindlessly acquiring books more than the effort of actually attempting to acquire what there is be had between their covers by actually reading them. It was a wrong, wrong and hurtful accusation. I am now going overboard in responding to it. I have vowed not to acquire, borrow or even peruse another book not already in my collection until I have read every book in my collection. - Lieu (géographique)
