This young girl travels to the USA and is on a field trip to an apple orchard. She speaks very minimal English. She listens and nods. Great book for a new student in the classroom. (1), mathematics. Pete the cat has these four groovy buttons on his coat. Throughout the book he would lose a button one at a time. After he loses a button there is a subtraction problem showing how many buttons are left. (1), grumpy. 34 pages. From the time Alex wakes up he has a horrible day. He has gum in his hair and he trips over his skateboard. I think this would be a good read for a student having a bad day (1), reading level PreK-3. Mathematics (1), rhyming. This was a great book for students that are just learning about time. When a child asks how much longer this book gives the student a task to work with. (1), interest level 5-8. Friendship (1), adventure. Stanley Yelnats is a boy who is accused of stealing special tennis shoes and is sent off to Camp Green Lake. While there he has to dig holes as "punishment" but really the camp is searching for treasure.Stanley and his friend zero escape that p (1), interest level 6-8. African Americans (1), racism. The struggle of a young African American girl trying to get the education she deserves. She continues to go to school even when the other boys and girls don't show. (1), or for someone who needs a laugh. (1), Isabel a 13 year old girl who works for the Locktons. Mary Finch owned Isabel before she passed and taught all of her slaves how to read and write. Every chapter begins with some sort of advertisement. (1), pictures are on every page (1), so he drew one. He draws himself a path and he draws himself a house and bed. Good book to have children get their ideas flowing. (1), fiction. Koji is growing up in San Francisco with a white mother and a Japanese father. He is living in San Francisco after the bombing of pearl harbor. He and his mother are placed in a camp. (1), 32 pages. African American (1), racism. Illustrations aren't on the same page until the two girls play together. About two little girls (1), one is African American and one is Caucasian. The two never play with one another until the end of the book. (1), pre K-1 (1), Harold is a four year old boy who is very creative. He tries going for a walk but there wasn't a moon (1), ABC. Rhyming is done to explain the injuries of the lower case shapes. (1), 48 pages. Max dresses into a wolf and is a bad boy. He is sent to bed without dinner. He goes on a journey and ends up on an island with a bunch of monsters. Max intimidates the monsters and becomes King of the Wild Things (1), reading level 6-7th grade (1), orphans. James is 4 years old and lives with his parents in England. Parents are eaten by a rhino. He ends up having to live with his aunts. James meets this man who give him a bag of crocodile tongues (1), and will give him happiness. (1), New York.
