I grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, where I nurtured a passion for reading and writing while nestled among blankets and pillows in my bedroom closet. My love of science fiction was born when I saw Star Wars in the theater in 1977. I've been disappointed ever since that I can't actually be Princess Leia.

Since then, I've lived in Texas and Minnesota and worn many hats, including mom, middle school teacher, college professor, and instructional designer. After the last of our three children left the nest, my husband Joe and I sold all our possessions, bought a 5th wheel, and traveled the United States for three years, during which time I wrote my first novel, Vagabonder.

When I'm not teaching or writing, I'm working on my newest project: Willow Oak Farm, a 25-acre plot in the heart of my beloved home state. My dream is to become a full-time writer, open my own yoga studio on my farm, and enjoy my life with my dogs, my best friend, and our family.
