A propos de ma bibliothèque

Path of the Dead was my debut novel of the Arthur Nakai mysteries. Arthur is a former Marine and ex-border patrol agent navigating his way through his troubled marriage and outfitting business all while trying to move forward after the death of their first child. Craig Johnson, New York Times best-selling Author of the Longmire Series had this to say about it: "Combining the gait of a fine horse, the comfort of your favorite Indian blanket, and the ease of a well-worn saddle, Mark Edward Langley's Path of the Dead is one heck of a debut novel!" The book was an introduction to the characters that make up the world of Arthur Nakai, and readers fell in love with them.

My 2nd novel, Death Waits in the Dark, sends you back into Arthur's past. The two sons of his first love have been murdered and Margaret Tabaaha asks Arthur to find out why. Feeling a deep and responsible obligation to help her, Arthur soon finds himself involved in the multi-billion-dollar world of the oil and gas industry and coming face-to-face with an old adversary, Elias Dayton. Their paths had crossed when Arthur was a member of the Shadow Wolves, an elite tactical unit within US Customs and Border Protection. Now Dayton runs Patriot Security, a Blackwater-type firm that keeps the oil rigs, gas wells, and man camps secure from the Water Protectors, protesters pushing to stop the fracking and poisoning of Native lands. But when Arthur learns the identity of the boys’ killer, he struggles to make sense of it. Because if the clues are right, he will be forced to make a decision that will haunt him for the rest of his life.

My 3rd novel, When Silence Screams is a powerful, gripping and dark story. Arthur Nakai, now armed with his newly minted private investigator license, has visitors at his doorstep on White Mesa. Melanie Manygoats and her young son arrive on a cold winter’s day asking him to locate her missing daughter, whom she fears has become one of the stolen. Arthur accepts and soon finds himself wading through the world of teenage prostitution where he discovers April has already been sold into the darker, more horrifying world of human trafficking and sexual slavery.
Arthur’s quest quickly leads him to a man known to everyone in the trade as The Cuban. Running underage girls is his business; to him they are nothing more than property to be microchipped and tattooed to ensure they never leave his employment. For The Cuban, the door of the flesh trade is always revolving - and his clients are always looking for fresher faces and younger girls to please their insatiable appetites. Are the cases related, or are they simply part of a bigger, more disturbing picture plaguing Arthur’s beloved Dinétah?
