À mon sujetThe Mission of the Louisiana National Guard Museum is to collect, preserve and interpret the history of Louisiana’s Army and Air National Guard in order to provide our Guardsmen and our citizens with an educational resource which promotes esprit de corps and an increased positive public image of the Louisiana National Guard
Collections include original and reproduction uniforms, weapons, photographs, artifacts, art, archives and books concerning US Military History from colonization, through the War of 1812, Mexican War, Civil War, Spanish American War, WWI & II, Cold War, Desert Storm and the Global War on Terror.
À propos de ma bibliothèqueThe Museum was established at Jackson Barracks US Army Post in 1974 and moved into into the renovated 1837 Powder Magazine in 1977. Throughout the 1980s and 90s we expanded exhibit, storage, conservation and library space into seven buildings which were all heavily impacted in 2005 by hurricanes Katrina and Rita when over 11 feet of floodwater permanently destroyed about 15% of the collections. In 2012 our new Multi-use Complex was completed bringing all the functions of the previous facilities under one roof. In addition to exhibit galleries, the new museum holds a theater, library, archive, second-floor collections storage space and a restoration maintenance bay.
