Eric S. York is married to Catina V. York. He is a graduate of James A. Shanks High School Class of June 7, 1988 in Quincy, Florida. Eric was a stand out walk-on football player at Alabama State University but didn't received a scholarship. He had to drop out of school and went back home for a year to work. Coach Rodell Thomas had encouraged Eric to go to Alabama State University also asked him to attend Kentucky State University. Eric walked onto Kentucky State University's football team in August of 1992. He was a hard-hitting Strong Safety who was considered One of the Best Defensive Backs in the Nation Among HBCU Schools for two years. He was also featured throughout a National Collegiate Football Magazine.
Eric is the author of his book called Having Early Visions That Move Mountains, My Winning Purpose. He was honored as a Gadsden Author by the Gadsden County Democratic Women's Club at the Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy on May 31, 2019 in Havana, Florida. The book dedication to the Gadsden County Public Library was sponsored by the Gadsden County Democratic Women's Club on June 1, 2019 in Quincy, Florida.
Eric was inducted into Kentucky State University Athletic Hall of Fame on October 11, 2019.
Eric holds an Associates of Arts Degrees from Keiser University in Accounting and Business Administration. He also has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education Teaching and a Master's Degree of Public Administration specializing in Human Resource Management from Kentucky State University.
He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
