Photograph of Wilhelm Dörpfeld writing. Taken in Jena, Germany, Autumn 1935. Wilhelm Dörpfeld (1853-1940) was an archaeologist. He is best known as Heinrich Schliemann's assistant helping him excavate Troy. After retiring, he lectured at the University of Jena during the 1920s and mid 1930s.
