Kat is focused on three things: turning eighteen, going to prom and graduating high school. She has her plans laid out, and nothing can get in her way. But when Kat displays superhuman strength saving one of her best friends, Roxie, at a house party, Kat realizes even the best-laid plans can go awry.

The events at the house party start a chain reaction of chaos in Kat’s life that she doesn’t know if she can handle. With powers manifesting that she can’t control, and a dream she has of an event from her past, Kat turns to the person she hopes has answers—her Gran.

But when Gran leaves her with more questions, Kat leans on the one she was trying to shield from everything—her twin brother, Maximus, better known to his friends as Mouse.
