julie10reads: The perfect love story and set in,incredibly, turn of the century WASP Southern Ontario! Montgomery captures the priggish snobbery of the time and place, also the low social and economical value of an ageing, middle class spinster. Can't count how many times I've read it!

julie10reads: It bears repeating that Georgette Heyer's Regency novels are Jane Austen-ish romances told in a lavishly OED vocabulary with syntax to make H.V. Fowler jealous! The stories are witty, usually complicated and populated with adorable relatives, friends and rogues. You need a dictionary by your side as you read. Dare I say, I prefer Heyer to Austen!
