knerd.knitter: This story was very fascinating. It's probably the first book I've read that addresses Covid, so that made it feel very familiar. The characters seemed very real and were well developed, which is one of my favorite things in a book. Another thing I enjoyed in this book was the use of multiple meanings of language, for example the title re-appearing many times throughout the story in different contexts with different meanings.

Explications
Haviland: Our library is focused on students in grades Preschool to Second Grade. Our older students walk five minutes to our local public library. Most of my four other picks were my own favorites. We Are Water Protectors was read and loved by almost everyone in our school. Students and faculty went through a length process of selecting it as our one school-one community read. We had great conversations and great connections with other books for all of our community members.
