JalenV: I listened to an audio copy from my local library. I was amazed by how much punishment poor Oliver's body takes near the end and he managed to survive. Nice kid -- interesting, considering his upbringing.
ahef1963: Too depressing for my liking.
Arrashid7: I read in high school. A great book! A tip ~ don't ever watch movies first!
MyFathersDragon: I was bored in 6th grade and read anything I could get my hands on. I liked Dickens, so I read a lot of his stories.

Explications
aulsmith : Skipping. Too much blubber.
rainpebble : puts my brain in a muddle no matter how many attempts I make to read it.
amanda4242: I read it and discovered that I could quite happily have gone through life without having read it.
sturlington : Read in college.
JalenV: Read twice for different classes (one definitely in college), chose it the second time because I remembered enough from dfiscussing it the first time I figured it would help the second. (Still wonder if that preacher who appeared early in the book gave the same sermon every Sunday.)
Aprill: I love Melville's writing.
ManWithAnAgenda : Read. Interesting.
MyFathersDragon: I liked the book in 5th grade, but when I tried rereading in 11th grade, I didn’t find it interesting enough to read it, perhaps because I had previously read it.

Aprill: Enjoyed it.
ahef1963: A favourite.
MyFathersDragon: It was available when I was reading anything I could find. I reread it in high school.

JalenV: It's been decades, but watching the Overly Sarcastic Productions video about it on YouTube reminded me of details I'd forgotten, not to mention making me chuckle.
MyFathersDragon: I received it as a gift when I was about 12, so of course I read it. I reread it several years later, too.

tiddleyboom : Read it. Love Poe!
sturlington: This is very short; no reason not to read it.
JalenV: I don't have this particular copy, but I have the Poe book my parents gave me and the annotated tales of Poe. It's a good story.
ahef1963 : I don't like Poe, except for The Raven.
MyFathersDragon: I read a few of his poems in 3rd and 4th grade, liking them, so I read more of Poe when I came across him over the next few years, including this one. I don’t remember it well, now, but I remember liking it. It seems like that was in 6th grade.

jain : Read ~1/4 of it, and that was annoying and repetitious enough. Can't imagine slogging through the whole thing.
aulsmith : Life's too short to waste it reading Pamela.

tiddleyboom : Read in Junior High. Great story. Stays with you forever. It is a rather slow tale though.
JalenV: I was familiar with it from Armour's The Classics Reclassified before I checked out our library's audio copy. I liked it.
ahef1963: A lovely, pastoral story.
MyFathersDragon: I got it as a gift in 6th grade because it was a classic, so of course I read it.

aulsmith: I've read a lot of this, but I mean to sit down and read it all the way through someday.
sturlington : Read at least in part in high school
JalenV: Had a summer job once where, after I wrote my weekly report, there was nothing to do. I decided that would be improve my mind day and read then. It did give me a glimpse of how cultures differ when a well-born youth pretending to be a kitchen boy didn't hold it against a well-born young lady for the way she mistreated him when she didn't know who he was.

JalenV: Another library audio edition I checked out. I knew from my mom's copy of Plot Outlines of 100 Famous Novels that it didn't have a happy ending, but it was even more grim than I expected.

aulsmith : Started several times but never found it worth pursuing.
nlgeorge : too biblical
JalenV: I was interested because the sisters in Little Women played it. I found a beautifully ilustrated old copy and bought it. I didn't like it much, but I didn't hate it.
ahef1963: Read in university. Can't say I liked it much.
ManWithAnAgenda : Read. eh.
CharlesTheB : I agree, too biblical
