Biggest Disappointments

zottel: Before it ended, it was as good as the rest of the series was. But the end was so bad, extremely sudden, as if the author just didn't want to write more. Gah! I've seldom been as mad at an author as at this one. I loved the series and would have recommended it if the author had written a worthwhile ending. As it is, I have to say: Don't waste your time reading it. :-(

zottel: I loved all of Mitchell's other works, especially Ghostwritten and The Bone Clocks. Compared to those, Cloud Atlas really was a disappointment. Flat characters, boring stories, all in all far away from the quality of his other books. It's not really bad, but not very good, either—Mitchell can do MUCH better. If you haven't read a Mitchell before, don't choose this one as your first.

aspirit: Feels like insanity. Don't know why I should want to experience that voluntarily.
