Top Five Books of 2014

plaugher: Magnificent. Simple language. Highly-relatable, sympathetic characters.

plaugher: Sprawling multi-century epic about life in a small Slavic town, and the interactions with first the Ottomans, and later the Austro-Hungarians. At times hilarious, and immensely informative.

plaugher: Riveting plot and interesting background mythology, though not without its flaws.

plaugher: Not his best, but plenty of moments of uproarious genius.

plaugher: Gutting for those of us currently working in the book trade.
