The Carnegie Medal was established in 1936 in honour of Andrew Carnegie, is given by the Library Association (CILIP since 2002) for an outstanding book for children written in English and first afficher plus published in the United Kingdom during the previous year. The medal was originally a once-only, life-time award, but a number of authors have won multiple times since Jan Mark in 1983. Note: Since 2007 the year relates to when the medal was awarded. Previously the year had referred to the publication date of the book. Therefore there is no award for 2006.
