Herbert Zettl’s Television Production Handbook is most popular and has gone through many revisions. It is used in TV production courses in colleges and universities. The book deals with the different aspects of TV production. From the TV studio to the control room where there are cameras, lights, sets, graphics, switcher, and audio board this manual explains it all.
Included in the text is instruction about how to operate color cameras, set lights in the studio, build sets of all kinds, how to operate the switcher, and audio board. Zettl explained the responsibilities of the make-up artist, the TV crew - including the cameramen and floor director, and demonstrates how best to use TV graphics. There is a discussion about the do’s and don’ts of the talent, announcer, and guest on a variety of TV shows. Attention is also given to the writing of the TV script, role of the TV director, and producer. And there is information on the new TV technologies and their best usage.… (plus d'informations)

Zettl's book remains a solid introduction volume on television, one of the better available. It covers the gamut, including details of television technology to practical aesthetics.. Any first year student in television or film should take this text and keep it for constant referral. Zettl continues to update with additional editions. I remember when his fist edition came out in the 1970s. It was an awkwardly shaped book, albeit relatively thin, with great information on old standard television broadcast cameras and equipment. To compare that book with today's is like venturing into another world. It demonstrates just how much the industry has changed.… (plus d'informations)

This should be a constant reference for all students in television production and/or television and film studies. Sections on preproduction, production, and postproduction are the most thorough you can find in one book. Plenty of references to the layout and use of digital technology as well practical steps towards scripting, editing, sound engineering and design, and broadcast standards. The book is constantly updated with new editions. And it's necessary, especially for the illustrations of technical equipment, which is constantly changing and improving.… (plus d'informations)
