Diese Buch gibt recht zu Anfang den Wortlaut einer deutschen Überstzung von Platons Beschreibung Atlantis' wieder. Dieser Wortlaut wird im Laufe des Buches dem Leser noch sehr häufig begegnen und setzt sich gegenüber dem restlichen fließtext durch seinen Kursivdruck und eine andere, geradlinigere Schriftart ab. Außerdem wird ein recht genaues Bild der Bronzezeit gegeben, um die Geschichte um Atlantis und die folgende These in einem Kontext zu betten.
Die vertretene These besagt, dass Atlantis möglicherweise identisch war mit Troia. Im Hauptteil des Buches wird durch Vergleiche versucht die Paralellen aufzuzeigen. Zangger führt bsw. das abruppte Ende der Erzählung (in der Mitte einer geplanten Trillogie) darauf zurück, dass Platon selbst diese Gemeinsamkeiten und ihre Tragweite bewußt wurden.

Die Sprache ist eingängig und läd zum flüssigen lesen ein. Das Buch wird durch viele Karten, Diagramme und Fotos in schwarz / weiß illustriert.
Die Aufteilung der Kapitel war nicht immer dergestalt, dass dem Leser gleich klar war, in welche Richtung, was der Autor bezwecken möge.
Ebenfalls leichte Verwirrung stifteten die Ortsbezeichnungen. Es war nicht immer ganz klar ob sich der Bericht gerade auf Griechenland oder Anatolien bezieht. Hier sollten die inbegriffenen Karten zurate gezogen werden.

Die aufgestellte These klingt waghalsig, wird aber interessant vertreten. Für interessierte sicherlich eine nette Abwechslung. Jedoch würde ich dieses Buch nicht als ein MUSS werten.… (plus d'informations)
